Tramontina Long Handle 13" Cane Machete

With the Tramontina Long Handle 13" Cane Machete, you get the bonus of a longer handle that will help make chopping easy, and dare I say, fun.

This machete has a longer handle that increases the momentum of every swing. It is a slightly larger but more effective chopper than the Tramontina 13" Cane Machete.

This machete is made in Brazil by Tramontina, this machete is made to be simple, but durable. It is a tool designed for use in the field.

The 13.4" blade of this machete has a unique appearance. It is thin and short, but very wide, in order to have enough weight forward to adequately chop. The blade was designed thinner to slice through grasses and sugar cane. It is meant for similar tasks and is not ideal for chopping through thicker wood.

The wooden handle is comfortable and provides a good grip. The blade has a full tang, with the wooden handle riveted in place.

This machete DOES NOT include a sheath. If you require a sheath, we recommend the Heavy Machete Sheath that we sell.

This sheath will not fit without some slight modification to the machete. The nub on the end of the machete would have to be removed, which is a quick job with a dremel tool.

The machete is a handy outdoor/wilderness tool and should definitely be something that you consider trying out if you haven't yet.

Note:

As with many machetes, to get a more useful edge, the factory edge has to be touched up and sharpened. This can easily be done with a metal file.

To sharpen, take the file and match the angle of the file to the factory edge of the machete. Move the file back and forth across the blade, while maintaining the proper edge angle.

Be careful when sharpening your machete because, if you're doing a good job, it will be sharp. Be sure to keep your hands, and anything that doesn't need cutting, away from the edge of the blade.
