Our Ceramic Sharpening Rods are an inexpensive way to quickly touch up your blades when they begin to dull.
Coming in two sizes, either the 4.5" or 8.5" lengths, both are affordable and easy to use. These rods are great to throw in your pack when going camping, to keep in your emergency kit or to just have around.
The Ceramic Sharpening Rods are small enough to be put almost anywhere. Never be without the means to sharpen your blades again!
To use the Ceramic Sharpening Rod, begin by carefully holding the rod at one end. Since these rods do not have handles, you will have to be very careful not to cut yourself.
Hold the blade against the rod at an angle of about 20 degrees (Look at a clock, a little less than the angle between the 2 and 3 o'clock positions).
Starting from the base of the blade at the end of the rod closest to you, slide the knife across the length of the blade, while moving up the rod in one clean stroke. Use only slight pressure.
To perform the same action on the other side of the blade edge, hold the rod in the same way, but perform the action on the underside of the rod. This may be a little tricky at first, but with some practice, it will become easier.
Perform this on one side of the blade a total of 5 times, then continue 5 times on the other side. Then do it 4 on each side, then 3, then 2, then 1 to finish it off. Your blade should now feel sharper.
During this process, be sure to always have the blade facing away from you and anyone that may be around you.
